Role Overview
We are seeking a Validation Team Lead to head our diverse, multi-disciplinary Validation & Integration (V&I) team in Belgium. The team covers a range of domains including Mechanical, Optical, Electronics, High Power, Firmware, Communication Protocols, and IoT. You will be responsible for leading and growing the team, organizing workloads, and fostering strong collaboration both within the team and with cross-functional partners.
You will coordinate all validation and integration activities, ensuring alignment with quality standards, project timelines, and cost objectives. This role requires close collaboration with our V&I teams in other locations (Europe, USA, China) to align ways of working and results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Belgian V&I team, organizing workloads and fostering collaboration.
- Balance assignments and coordinate all activities to meet quality, timeline, and cost objectives.
- Collaborate with V&I teams in other locations to align processes and results.
- Participate in and organize validation & integration activities for global development projects related to airfield products.
- Lead validation activities for engineering changes and supplier resourcing.
- Develop, define, and maintain Validation Requirement Traceability Matrices (VRTM) for new products, including acceptance criteria, test procedures, and test reports.
- Interpret and apply internal and external product requirements and standards (e.g., FAA, ICAO, CAAC, IEC).
- Coordinate validation test plans and schedules to meet project requirements.
- Research and coordinate with third-party test laboratories as needed.
- Review and analyze test data to ensure product requirements are met.
- Communicate project status and validation results to project teams and other business functions.
- Develop a clear understanding of customer expectations for new product designs.
- Operate independently while being embedded within the product design team.
- Continuously seek improvement opportunities in testing standards, lab setup, and test equipment.
- Implement and analyze test fixtures, machines, and data to solve problems with test programs and equipment.
- Drive digitalization and automation of test procedures and setups, including data collection, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills
- MSc. in Engineering (preferably Electronics or Computer Science) or equivalent.
- 7+ years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or team lead role.
- Strong project management skills.
- Exceptional communication and leadership abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel with both short- and long-term deadlines.
- Knowledge of data engineering/science, electronics, and firmware.
- Background in test engineering and validation.
- Continuous improvement mindset.
- Willingness to travel abroad up to 20%.
- Knowledge of test and measurement tools and methodologies.
- Insight into production processes.
Nice to Have
- Experience with airfield products & systems (e.g., lights, CCRs, ILCMS systems).
- Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., FAA, ICAO, CAAC).
- Experience with AI, test automation, and test simulation.
- Experience rolling out global processes and procedures.
