We are establishing ADB SAFEGATE LABS in Hyderabad, our newest extension of global engineering capabilities. The Labs focus on building and evolving digital platforms, data-driven services, and AI-enabled solutions that support airport operations across Airfield, Apron, Tower, and Weather domains. 

As part of a globally distributed engineering organisation, the Hyderabad Labs work closely with teams across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, contributing directly to solutions deployed at airports worldwide. 

 

THE OPPORTUNITY 

Be our founding engineering hire in Hyderabad. 

We're seeking a highly technical senior software engineer with strong leadership skills to establish and lead our Apron development team from the ground up. 

Our Apron solutions manage automation at gate ecosystem with our advanced docking guidance system and software offerings to assist in aircraft guidance, ground support equipment, and operational workflows—critical systems that keep airports moving efficiently. 

As our first engineering hire at this location, you'll: 

  • Build and lead a high-performing team (6-7 engineers) 

  • Shape engineering culture, practices, and delivery standards 

  • Work hands-on with modern tech stack (Angular, Node.js, Docker, Kubernetes, Azure) 

  • Drive agile practices in coordination with our Global Apron Business line 

  • Deliver solutions used by major airports globally 

This is a unique opportunity to build something from scratch while having global impact. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO 

Technical Leadership & Team Formation  

  • Serve as the local technical lead for a new full stack development team, mentoring engineers and setting pragmatic standards.  

  • Foster a collaborative, agile environment—facilitate scrum ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives) and drive continuous improvement.  

  • Onboard and help grow new team members, shaping the team’s working culture from the ground up.  

  • Collaborate closely with product owners and stakeholders to clarify requirements and align on priorities.  

Full Stack Development  

  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications using Angular (frontend) and Node.js (backend).  

  • Ensure code quality via reviews, automated testing, and adherence to best practices.  

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across the stack.  

DevOps & CI/CD Enablement  

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, including automated build, test, and deployment workflows.  

  • Champion containerization best practices using Docker; manage container orchestration with Kubernetes on Azure Cloud.  

  • Integrate code quality checks, security scanning, and traceability into the delivery pipeline.  

Quality, Collaboration, and Process  

  • Drive clean code, code review culture, and maintain high standards for code hygiene and test coverage.  

  • Promote transparency, shared ownership, and a focus on delivery outcomes.  

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and documentation within the team.  

 

We’re Looking for Someone With:  

  • 5+ years as a full stack software engineer with deep hands-on experience in Angular and Node.js 

  • 3+ technical leadership in team settings (mentoring, process facilitation, driving standards)  

  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and team enablement practices 

  • Strong knowledge of Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration in production environments 

  • Solid experience with Azure Cloud services and Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines 

  • Proficiency in RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and database design (SQL/NoSQL) 

  • Understanding of web application security, performance optimization, and scalability 

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)  

  • Ability to work effectively in small, high-impact teams 

  • Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and can build structure 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience launching or scaling new teams or engineering offices 

  • Background in aviation, transportation, or mission-critical systems 

  • Working knowledge of automated testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Selenium) 

  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code practices (Terraform, ARM templates) 

  • Familiarity with application monitoring and observability tools (Application Insights, Prometheus, Grafana) 

  • Experience with message queues (RabbitMQ, Azure Service Bus) or event-driven architectures 

  • Contributions to open-source projects or active tech community participation 

Education: 

  • B.Tech/B.E. in Computer Science, IT, Electronics, or related field  

  • M.Tech/MS is a plus  

  • Equivalent experience with strong technical foundation considered
