The opportunity
ADB SAFEGATE is a global leader in providing smart solutions for airports, enabling efficient aircraft handling from approach to departure. Our offerings include approach, runway and taxiway lighting, tower-based traffic control systems, and intelligent gate and docking automation. We are seeking a motivated, customer-oriented Junior Service Engineer (APAC Regional Service Portfolio) to join our Kuala Lumpur team. This entry-level role provides 1st-line technical support and assists with system operations, preventive maintenance, and basic hardware/software troubleshooting, under senior engineer guidance and in line with ITIL processes and SLA requirements.
You will make an impact by….
- Provide 1st-line support for Gate Apron hardware and software systems across the Asia region, escalating complex issues to senior support when required.
- Respond to Service Desk phone calls and emails professionally, ensuring timely acknowledgement and updates in line with SLA targets.
- Perform daily system health checks (availability, alarms, connectivity, application status) and report anomalies.
- Collect diagnostic information (logs, screenshots, configuration details) to support effective troubleshooting and escalation.
- Log incidents, problems, and service requests accurately in company tools (e.g., Jira), ensuring customers receive reference numbers and clear progress updates.
- Classify incidents correctly and assess impact/priority to support appropriate escalation and resolution.
- Support recurring-issue tracking by highlighting trends and assisting in problem ticket creation and documentation.
- Assist project delivery teams with on-site activities such as implementation support, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting as required.
- Perform or assist with planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and routine operational checks on systems (remote and/or on-site).
- Support basic spare-part handling and replacement activities under instruction, including documentation and verification.
- Support systems running on Linux (basic command-line tasks such as service checks, log review, network checks, file handling).
- Assist with basic Kubernetes operational tasks (e.g., checking pod status, viewing logs, confirming deployments/namespace status) following internal procedures.
- Provide products and systems training both internally and to our customers
- Apply a basic electrical/electronics background to support on-site checks (e.g., visual inspection, checking power presence, understanding basic wiring/grounding concepts) under supervision.
- Follow ADB SAFEGATE’s Change, Configuration, and Release processes for software deployments and spare part releases.
- Maintain clear, consistent, and professional communication with customers and internal stakeholders on service status and next steps.
- Prepare technical proposals, reports and assist sales teams as needed.

Education
- Candidates with a degree in IT / Computer Science / Software Engineering are preferred for the position.
- Applicants with an Electrical & Electronics degree and relevant experience are also welcome to apply.

Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in IT and hardware technical support, ideally within an ITIL principal and process
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across hardware and software platforms
- Proficient in IT management and customer support experience
- Experience in the civil aviation industry will be an advantage
- Candidates with a degree in IT / Computer Science / Software Engineering are preferred for the position.
