Solutions Engineering Team Leader

Mission

As the Solutions Engineering Team Leader, your mission is to guide, support, and empower a high-performing engineering team delivering advanced airfield control system solutions. You will drive successful design, procurement, build, and commissioning of hardware and software applications, ensuring project excellence from conception to completion. Acting as the first-level leader for project engineers, you will foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement, strengthening the financial performance and quality standards of our company.

 

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Supervision

  • Provide day-to-day direction, support, and resource planning for project engineers.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor your team to meet scheduled task completion dates and company goals.
  • Manage team performance, including monitoring, reviews, and compensation recommendations.
  • Delegate responsibilities and ensure the appropriate assignment of personnel.

Project Management & Delivery

  • Coordinate resources across internal teams, contractors, and consultants to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of project tasks.
  • Oversee engineering, procurement, building, configuring, commissioning, and retro-commissioning projects related to airfield control systems.
  • Support bid/proposal preparation, configuration, testing, and validation activities.

Resource & Financial Planning

  • Assign engineering resources based on competencies and project needs.
  • Estimate materials and products required, including accurate forecasting and budgeting.
  • Monitor project costs, schedules, and delivery, contributing to the company’s financial performance.

Solutions Engineering Management

  • Supervise all aspects of project engineering, including electrical wiring, mechanical design, procurement, production, and configuration scheduling.
  • Maintain and improve departmental standards, processes, and ISO quality procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement in profitability and quality.

Administrative & Performance Management

  • Approve team travel, expenses, and absence requests in line with company policies.
  • Enforce process compliance and make purchasing decisions.
  • Set, communicate, and monitor personal and team goals and expectations.
  • Ensure business targets are met in a timely manner.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Liaise effectively with subordinates, supervisors, customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain vital business relationships for project success.

Leadership

  • Lead through change and adversity, make key decisions, and build consensus.
  • Conduct negotiations, resolve conflicts, and focus on positive outcomes.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.

 

Your Profile

Technical & Business Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Controls/Automation, Electronics, or related discipline; additional degree in Business or Business Administration preferred.
  • Creative, dedicated, and open-minded with a strong team-oriented approach.
  • Excellent communication skills for multicultural and international environments.
  • Result and quality-oriented, with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of airfield project design processes and systems engineering.
  • Experience in managing projects and leading people.
  • Familiarity with industrial system testing, quality control, and automation.
  • Professional experience with airfield lighting components and series-circuits is a plus.

Languages

  • Fluent German and advanced proficiency in English (additional languages advantageous).
