Mission
As a Junior System Engineer, you will support the configuration, validation, deployment and testing of Airfield Lighting Control and Monitoring Systems (ALCMS). Working alongside experienced engineers, you will develop the practical skills needed to deliver reliable systems for airport customers.
You will contribute throughout the project lifecycle, from design support and system configuration to cabinet set-up, testing and on-site commissioning. ADB SAFEGATE provides structured on-the-job training to help early-career engineers become familiar with applicable regulations, standards, products and airfield operations. As your experience grows, you will take increasing ownership of technical tasks and customer-facing activities.
Responsibilities
Project engineering support
· Support projects from production release through testing, commissioning and customer acceptance.
· Plan and complete assigned tasks and milestones with guidance from a senior engineer or project lead.
· Assist project engineers and customers with system configuration, testing and troubleshooting.
· Provide clear and timely updates on progress, risks and technical issues.
· Collaborate with airport authorities, maintenance teams, contractors and internal stakeholders.
· Maintain project documentation and follow established engineering, quality and safety processes.
Software
· Configure ADB SAFEGATE proprietary software using established procedures and project requirements.
· Install, configure and troubleshoot Windows and Linux-based systems at a foundational level.
· Configure commercially available software and connected hardware.
· Support minor software or configuration changes under supervision and document the changes clearly.
Hardware
· Assist with the selection, preparation and configuration of suitable system hardware.
· Perform basic network configuration and troubleshooting, including IP addressing, subnet masks, gateways, Ethernet connections and connectivity checks.
· Read system schematics, network diagrams and cabinet drawings with support from experienced colleagues.
· Support hardware integration, cabinet testing and on-site commissioning of the complete ALCS.
Testing and Validation Support
· Prepare and execute test plans, checklists and test records in accordance with defined processes.
· Support Factory Quality Tests, Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests and customer training.
· Test operating systems, application software, interfaces and system management tools.
· Record defects accurately, support root-cause analysis and verify corrective actions.
· Follow local and international safety and quality requirements during testing and commissioning.
Technical Drawings and Documentation
· Open, review and make basic updates to AutoCAD / pdf drawings, such as layouts, labels, layers and simple wiring or network details.
· Keep system documentation, configuration records, drawings and test evidence accurate and up to date.

Required qualifications & skills
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Industrial Automation, Computer Engineering or a comparable technical discipline. Recent graduates and candidates with initial relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
· Foundational practical knowledge of Windows and/or Linux, such as installation, user and file management, basic services, command-line use and troubleshooting.
· Basic understanding of computer networks, including Ethernet, TCP/IP, IP addresses, subnet masks, gateways and common connectivity checks.
· Basic ability to read and make simple changes in AutoCAD drawings.
· Basic understanding of electrical or automation systems, system schematics and hardware interfaces.
· Initial exposure to PLCs, TIA Portal, Siemens S7 or industrial communication protocols such as Profibus, Modbus, CAN bus or PROFINET is an advantage.
· Ability to organize assigned work, manage priorities and communicate when support or escalation is needed.
· Any internship, university project, vocational training or hands-on technical experience in automation, IT, electrical systems or commissioning is an advantage.
