Job Title: Planner
Role Summary:
The Planner is responsible for the development, monitoring, and maintenance of project schedules, ensuring effective planning, progress tracking, and reporting throughout the project life cycle. This role supports project managers and teams in delivering projects on time and within budget by providing accurate, up-to-date scheduling and forecasting information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, update, and maintain project schedules using scheduling software (such as Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Prepare baseline programs, progress updates, and look-ahead schedules.
- Integrate schedules with work breakdown structures (WBS) and project deliverables.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to collect and validate schedule data.
- Monitor project progress against the baseline schedule, identify variances, and analyse the impact of delays or changes.
- Prepare and distribute regular progress reports, critical path analysis, and forecasts to management and clients.
- Support resource planning and allocation in line with project requirements and constraints.
- Participate in risk analysis and mitigation planning.
- Assist in the preparation, evaluation, and substantiation of delay claims and extension of time (EOT) requests.
- Support project close-out by preparing as-built schedules and lessons learned documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project records and planning documents.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
- 7 to 10 years’ experience as a planner, scheduler, or project controls engineer in construction, infrastructure and/or engineering.
- Proficiency in scheduling software (such as Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of critical path method (CPM), resource loading, and project controls principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
