The Opportunity

The Head of Internal Audit will establish and lead the Internal Audit function for ADB Safegate worldwide, ensuring strong internal controls, effective risk management, and compliance with international standards and company policies. This senior role is responsible for creating and implementing global internal audit processes, developing a robust risk assessment methodology, and executing a risk-based audit plan. The Head of Internal Audit will report directly to the CFO and receive support/guidance from the Finance Director Accounting.

The Head of Internal Audit will have people management and coaching responsibilities for future finance staff based in India.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish the global Internal Audit function, including defining all related policies, processes, and methodologies.
• Create and implement a comprehensive risk assessment process for the company, leveraging input from the Finance Lead Team and ExCom, and developing an independent risk assessment approach for future audit planning.
• Develop, align, and execute a global annual internal audit plan based on identified risks.
• Define roles and responsibilities for the internal audit team and audited departments.
• Conduct and supervise operational, financial, compliance, and IT audits across all regions and business units.
• Prepare and present clear audit reports, findings, and recommendations to senior management and audit committee.
• Monitor the implementation of audit recommendations and follow up on corrective actions.
• Continuously review and enhance audit procedures and internal control frameworks.
• Provide training and awareness on internal controls, risk management, and compliance across the global organization.
• Recruit, manage, and develop an Audit Assistant as needed to execute the internal audit plan.
• Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as required.
• Support the Finance function and other departments with special investigations, ad hoc reviews, and process improvement initiatives.
• To support the company’s growth, and as part of the India Service Center, we anticipate expanding the finance team in the coming years. In this context, the Head of Internal Audit will assume people management and coaching responsibilities for finance staff based in India—including those with direct reporting lines to managers abroad, via a dotted-line reporting relationship. For example, in 2026, a Global Tax Analyst is planned to join the team; this role will report directly to the Tax Manager in Brussels, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Head of Internal Audit.

Skills & Qualifications

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certification: Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is mandatory.  Other certifications such as Certified Information System Auditors (CISA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) are certainly a plus.
• Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills in English.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
• Prior involvement in establishing or enhancing an internal audit function in a multi-national company is a strong plus.
• High degree of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Proficient in MS Office; SAP S4H preferred.
• Proven ability to supervise, coach, and develop junior staff.

Experience

• Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience in internal audit with a global or multinational organization.
• Experience establishing or leading an internal audit function is highly desirable.
• Strong background in risk management, internal controls, and compliance.
• Experience in the technology, infrastructure, or project-based sectors is an advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage complex workloads, and deliver results under tight deadlines.
• Experience working with cross-functional and international teams
• Experience in reporting to higher management
